Finnish Design for All Network
The Finnish Design for All Network currently involves
37 member organisations. The majority of
organisations are research institutions, universities and user
organisations, with cross-disciplinary expertise in Design for All
and experience in international collaboration in the field.
The objective of the Finnish DfA Network is to support the
development of the information society, according to objectives
defined at European and at national level. Another relevant context
for the Finnish Design for All Network is sustainability that is,
economically, ecologically and especially socially sustainable
development.
The primary objective of the DfA network is to transfer DfA
related knowledge to both public and private sector.
The Finnish DfA Network is coordinated by The National Institute
for Health and Welfare, THL
Design for All and the European context
The Finnish Design for All Network was established in 2002 as a
result of the eEurope 2002 action line, approved by the EU
Commission and EU member countries to support the development of
the European information society.
Design for All Networks have been established in 22 EU member
countries and Norway. The European network carries the title The
European Design for All e-Accessibility Network EDeAN. By now EDeAN
has over 160 member organisations.
